The René Gimpel Archives are a free, continually growing online database of more than ten thousand documents from the professional and personal archives of René Gimpel. They cover all aspects of Gimpel’s art dealing practice, from the gallery’s origins at the end of the 19th century until the end of World War II. The Archive is then continued under the name Gimpel Fils.
Please note, our database is the result of lengthy work, still in progress. You may encounter some transcription errors. Rest assured, we are continually undertaking corrections and revisions.
